A VILLAGE IN A METROPOLIS

(Version française plus bas)

Calderón is well-known for its mazapan figurines and ornaments Ecuadorians offer one another for religious holidays, and which foreigners can buy in fair trade shops at home.

But Calderón is also a suburb of Quito that looks like a small village. There is a tiny church on the main square, butcher shops everywhere, and children hanging out on the street as they probably do every day.
